A look back on 2024

2024 has been our busiest year ever here at HPSS! We’ve worked on a particularly broad range of projects, from festivals and tours to election counts and gala balls, whilst also moving over to larger premises at 31 Bergen Way in Hull.

Festivals

We provided crew and equipment for festivals such as Humber Street Sesh and the Freedom Festival locally, as well as several further afield including Deer Shed, Chilfest, Stonedead and Musicport.

Halifax Piece Hall

We also had a large sound and lighting rig in at Halifax Piece Hall over the summer, which saw 35 shows from a total of 73 artists including PJ Harvey, Fatboy Slim, and Grace Jones.

Tours

The Bootleg Beatles, the Illegal Eagles, G4 and the Carpenters Story were all on tour this year with equipment and crew provided by HPSS, putting on a total of nearly 300 shows between them.

Corporate

We were also involved in many corporate events, including Top 30 Under 30, the Hull & East Yorkshire Business Awards and Humber Rescue’s 35th Anniversary Gala Ball.

January 2025

Bradford 2025: Asian Dub Foundation - La Haine

We provided a KARA II and KS28 PA system and a projector for a live screening of the French cult classic film La Haine at Bradford’s St George’s Hall.

The film was accompanied by Asian Dub Foundation, performing their iconic soundtrack live as a celebration of Bradford cinematic heritage to kick off the city’s UK City of Culture year.

The Illegal Eagles 2025

The Illegal Eagles were in rehearsals at Connexin Live in Hull this month before setting off for another year on the road with over 125 shows already in the diary for 2025.

We’re again providing crew, transport, sound and lighting, along with projection that’s been added for 2025.

Hull University Winter Graduations

We provided a projector and screen again this month for Hull University’s winter graduation ceremony at Connexin Live in Hull.
